Terms of Use
Quintap is a puzzle game made by one person. These are the terms you agree to by using it. They are short because the game does very little to you: it runs on your phone, it keeps your progress, and it has one optional leaderboard.
The game
You may use Quintap for as long as you like, on any device you own, for free. You may not resell it, take it apart to republish it, or pass it off as your own work.
Your account is optional
The whole campaign — every level, every grade, the daily puzzle, all of it — works with no account. Signing in with Apple or Google does two things and no others: it backs your campaign up, and it puts you on the world leaderboard.
You can sign out at any time, and you can delete the account and everything on the server from inside the app: Settings ▸ your account ▸ Delete my account data. That deletes the account itself, not just its contents — see the privacy policy.
The world leaderboard, and what is not allowed on it
The board shows the display name your Apple or Google account gives us. You do not type a name into Quintap, so most of what usually goes wrong here cannot: there is no nickname field, no message, no picture, no chat and no way to send anything to another player.
What is left is your name, on a table other signed-in players can see, and there are rules about it. Do not use the board to:
- show a name that is obscene, hateful, harassing or threatening;
- impersonate another person, a company, or me;
- advertise anything, or use a name as a handle or a link to send people somewhere;
- pretend to be staff or support for Quintap.
If you do, your row comes off the board, and your account may be closed without warning and without a refund. There is no appeal queue and no tribunal: it is one person reading reports, and I would rather remove a name and be wrong about it than leave one up and be wrong about that.
If you see a name that breaks these rules
Tap it on the board, or the button at the end of its row. The card that opens lets you report it — you will be asked which of three things is wrong with it — and, separately, hide it. Hiding takes effect immediately, stays on your own device, and is yours to undo whenever you like. Reports come to me and to nobody else; no other player can read them.
I do not moderate names before they appear, because I never chose them: they arrive from Apple and Google as they are. What I undertake is to read reports and to take a name off the board when it should not be there.
Remove Ads
Quintap sells one thing: Remove Ads, a single purchase — not a subscription — that turns off the banner and the rewarded offer for good.
Nothing in the game is behind it. Every level, grade, crest, the daily puzzle and the leaderboard work without it. There is no currency, no energy meter and no loot box anywhere in the app.
Apple takes the payment and holds the receipt. Refunds are Apple's to give, under Apple's terms, not mine. If the purchase does not carry over to a new phone, Settings ▸ Restore Purchases asks Apple again; if that fails, write to me.
Advertising
Until that purchase, the game shows a banner under cards you opened yourself, and offers a hint you can watch a video for. Nothing plays an advert you did not ask for, no level is gated on watching one, and the first ten levels and the whole of your first session carry no advertising at all.
The adverts come from Google and follow the privacy choices you made when you were asked. The details are in the privacy policy.
What I do not promise
The game is provided as it is. I do not promise it is free of bugs, that a score will never be lost, that the leaderboard will be up, or that the game will still be here in ten years. Back-ups are a convenience and not a guarantee — keep nothing here you cannot lose.
To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss arising from using the game; and where the law does not allow that, my liability is limited to what you have paid me, which for almost everyone is nothing. Nothing here takes away a right your own country gives you as a consumer.
Changes, and the law
I may change these terms; the date at the top says when I last did. If a change matters, the app will say so rather than leaving it here to be found.
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam.
