Frequently asked
How do I play?
Drop a numbered block onto the 5×5 board. When a whole row or a whole column adds up to exactly 10, that line clears and scores. Every block sits in a row and a column at the same time, so each placement is a bet on two lines at once.
Tap or drag?
Both, and it is the same gesture. Press a block and it lifts. Let go without moving and it stays in your hand — then tap a cell to place it. Or keep moving and the block follows your finger, riding one cell above it so your thumb never covers the number. While you drag, the cell you are over ghosts the block in and both of its lines light up.
What does a red line mean? It never clears again.
That line is stuck: it has gone past 10, and nothing you place in it can bring it back down. It is not dead, though. Every cell belongs to two lines, so clearing the crossing line empties cells out of the stuck one — and if that drops it to exactly 10, it clears in the same move, as part of the chain. Rescuing a stuck line through the other axis is the core of the game.
What are Easy, Normal and Hard?
Three rulebooks, switched from the pill in the top-right corner. Easy shows ten gutter pills carrying the live row and column totals, so you never add anything up. Normal is the same game with the totals hidden. In Hard there is no such thing as a stuck line: a row or column that goes past 10 ends the run on the spot. Each rulebook keeps its own best score and its own leaderboard, and switching starts a fresh board.
Can I take a move back?
Yes — three undos per run, shown on the undo button. They are free and there is nothing to buy to get more.
How does Endless get harder?
There are no difficulty tiers, just one smooth climb, and you climb it by clearing. As you go, pressure blocks drop more often and the pool leans further towards 7, 8 and 9.
How do I get on the world leaderboard?
Turn Settings → World board on. It arrives switched off; until you turn it on, nothing at all leaves your device. Once it is on, your best score for each rulebook competes for a place in that rulebook's top 100, under your player name.
How do I change my name on the board?
Tap the name at the top of Settings and type a new one. Until you pick one the game generates a name for you, like "fox 41233". Please do not use your real name, an email address or a phone number: the board is public. Names carrying contact details or offensive words are refused.
Someone's name on the board is offensive
Tap that row. You can hide the player, which removes them from your board straight away and stays private to your device, or report the name, which files it for me to review and take down. Reporting hides them as well. Settings → Show hidden players again undoes every hide.
My score is missing from the board
Each board holds the top 100 for one rulebook, so a score below the hundredth does not appear. The board is also cached for a day to keep it cheap to run, so a brand-new record can take until the next day to show for other players. Check you are on the right rulebook tab, and that the World board switch is on.
How do I delete what I published?
Switch Settings → World board off. That deletes the rows you published on all three boards and the anonymous account behind them — not just your view of them. To remove what is stored on the phone as well, delete the app. See the Privacy Policy.
Are there ads or things to buy?
There is one banner ad, along the bottom edge of the cards you open (Settings, Scores, the mode picker, the end-of-run card). There is no ad while you are playing, no full-screen ad and no video ad. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions: every mode and every undo is already yours.
How do I change my ad privacy choices?
If you are in a region where a consent form applies (the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the game shows it before the first ad and keeps a permanent way back to it: Settings → Ad privacy choices. The entry is not shown where the choice does not apply.
Does it work offline?
The game does. Every mode, every score and every setting works with no connection at all; only the world board and the banner need one, and both simply do not appear without it.
Which languages does it speak?
English.
The motion bothers me, or it is too bright
Settings has Reduce motion, which calms the animations, a light/dark/auto Appearance setting, and switches for sound and vibration.
I lost my progress
Scores are saved on the device only, so deleting the app or moving to a new phone does not carry them over. If a run vanished for another reason, email me with your phone model and OS version and what happened just before it.
What does it run on?
iPhone and iPad, iOS 15 or later, portrait; and Android phones, portrait.
